Israel J. Morejon

Chief Executive Officer and President

Mr. Morejon brings 21 years of combined experience in the military, medical, consumer and R&D fields. He began his career in the defense industry designing missile guidance and control systems. Later, he founded an engineering design and consulting company named Integrated Engineering Technology (IET). At IET, he designed ASICs used in digital video encoding and compression, universal dimming controllers for lighting, hearing aids, kidney dialysis systems, robots and the core waveguide technology used in speed guns. Afterward, Mr. Morejon joined Johnson & Johnson where he designed multi-platform acute care patient monitoring products. Subsequently he joined Jabil Circuit, Inc. working in the management design and R&D Areas. He was initially promoted to Director of Design Services to oversee the company’s global product development capabilities. Mr. Morejon architected a diverse group of products including automotive, wireless, storage, computing devices, laptop docking stations, camera modules, PDAs and smart phones. In the Research & Development field, he pioneered the last mile wireless modem technology and optical tomography cancer systems.  As Chief Technology Director, he architected an LED Rear Projection TV, LED edge emitting LCD Back Light and nanoprojectors. A prolific innovator, Mr. Morejon has numerous pending and granted patents in a variety of technology areas. Mr. Morejon is an engineering graduate from the University of South Florida.

 

             

Bill Blackley    

Vice President of Business Development

Mr. Blackley joins LEDnovation as Vice president of Business Development and brings over 20 years of lighting and electrical industry experience.  Mr. Blackley is LC certified by the National Council on Qualifications for lighting professions (NCQLP) is active on five industry IES committees and holds bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering, marketing and a MBA in General Management.  Mr. Blackley has held various senior management positions in sales, marketing and product development at Vossloh-Schwabe (Matsushita Electric), Acuity Brands Lighting (Holophane) and most recently Nexxus Lighting, working in Europe, Asia and the USA.

Evan O'Sullivan

Vice President of Engineering

Mr. O’Sullivan brings 15 years of combined experience in the medical, consumer and R&D fields. In his role as Vice President of Engineering Mr. O’Sullivan directs the technology development and innovation efforts of the LEDnovation technical teams. Prior to joining LEDnovation Mr. O’Sullivan spent eleven years at Jabil Circuit in various design engineering, Research and Development,  and management roles.  He brings to LEDnovation many years of product design and project/team management experience including the design of computer motherboards and servers, LED based display and projection products, medical electronics, and various other consumer electronics applications. Mr. O’Sullivan received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida.

 

Scott Mauldin

Director of Operations

Scott Mauldin brings to LEDnovation a broad range of experience spanning over 30 years in the electronics industry. Prior to joining LEDnovation Mr. Mauldin was the president of Genesis Electronics Manufacturing, one of Tampa Bay’s leading electronic manufacturing firms.   As president he led the business to a profitable turn-around before selling the business to Kimball Electronics in 2008. Prior to Genesis, Mauldin was Executive Vice President of Westshore Consulting, consulting with large manufacturing companies on lean manufacturing, supply chain and systems integration.  Mr. Mauldin also worked for the global electronics firm Philips. At this division he was the strategic business unit manager responsible for relationships with Motorola, Compaq Computer, Hewlett Packard and others. Additionally, Mr. Mauldin has published 11 articles on electronic manufacturing strategy.

 

Jim Zhai

Chief Optical Engineer

Mr. Zhai brings to LEDnovation 20 years of R&D and product experience in optoelectronics, including over 10 years development experience in projection display, fiber optics, solid state lighting, and semiconductor lithography.  He participates on LEDnovation’s technical intellectual property and technologies development team. Prior to joining LEDnovation, Mr. Zhai spent four years working in consumer products technology research and development roles. He played an important role in developing an LED rear projection TV, an LED edge-emitting LCD backlight and picoprojector. He received his PhD degree in 1995 in optoelectronics from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and began his career as a Research Associate in the Data Storage System Center of Carnegie Mellon University after he finished Postdoctoral Fellowship program in Tsinghua University of Beijing in 1998. An innovator, Mr. Zhai has 8 granted US patents and over 15 pending patent applications, with over 50 published journal/conference papers in variety of technology areas.
